In time for Valentine's Day, Jollibee launched a video series on its Social Media accounts, on Facebook and YouTube, and many are shedding tears.
The Filipino fast-food giant released two videos on Thursday, February 9, five days before the much-celebrated Heart's Day in the Philippines. On Friday, a third video was released as part of the "Kwentong Jollibee Valentine Series." These videos are short narratives that won the hearts of netizens, it went viral.
The first Jollibee video I saw was "Crush." It was a 2:55 seconder video that was set in the 80s. It showed a young man who consistently and persistently gave Jollibee's yumburger to his crush. But unlike any other burger, a sticky note was stuck on each burger with his personal message. It was a sweet gesture, but his crush was already with someone. But towards the end of the video, on a reunion scene, we see an elderly woman on the table waiting. Then, she was handed a burger with a note, "Sorry, I am late." Then it cut to the video of the elderly man and he said apologetically, "It took a while before our grand kids fell asleep!"
The video earned a lot of thumbs up from netizens! Most are feeling inspired.
One YouTube user commented:
(The joy of love, where you don't worry whether you will be hurt because you have loved. You will only wish to be with her forever, in love! It would be a great experience to feel that kind of love"
Another video, entitled "Vow" was also released on Thursday. However, if "Crush" gave us a happy ending, "Vow" was a tear-jerker because the man did not end up with his best friend who he is secretly in love with. In the beginning of the video showed the man on the altar staring at the bride walking down the aisle. Then, there were flashbacks, showed how they first met at Jollibee and became best friends. In the end, the bride reached the altar and took the hands of another man. Tears.
Although, it was not your typical happy ending, many netizens were able to relate to the story especially those who loved unconditionally and left in the "friendzone!"
The third video entitled "Date" was released on Friday and netizens were quick to share and react to the heartbreaking video about the boy who was following the instructions from his dad throwing a Valentine's Day surprised date for the mom. When the mom arrived, the son handed her the tablet with the video of the dad. He was apologizing for not making it alive to Valentine's Day but said he already told the son what to do.
In two days, the three social media-released videos went viral and to date has more than million views on You Tube and Facebook.
