After 6 decades of bringing smiles to the faces of generations of Pinoys, Rodolfo Vera Quizon or Dolphy died on Tuesday, July 10 at the Makati Medical center for multiple organ failure and complications from Pneumonia.
Filipinos from all walks of life and Pinoys all over the world were saddened by the news. Mang Dolphy has died several times in hoax twitter and text blasts in the past, but this time it is for real. Local media have been watching closely the health condition of the Comedy King the past 15 days since he was brought to Makati Medical Center. Prayers were offered for the fast recovery of Mang Dolphy but as Eric Quizon, one his sons told media in an official statement of the Quizon family, "But where his spirit was strong, his body had so weakened. He had to go"
Dolphy will be remembered for his numerous movies, tv programs and characters he portrayed. I, however, would always remember him as "Mang Cosme or Tatay Cosme" of Home along da Riles. I've always loved that sitcom and was sad when it had to come to an end. And just like any tv show, no matter how good it is, life will come to an end.
Mang Dolphy's life has reached the ending. Many Pinoys became spectators of his life in front and behind the camera and at the end of his life, almost each and everyone would say, "That was a very good show!" That's a life well-lived.
